Amokläufer erschießt zehn Mitschüler

Ein 22-jähriger Amokläufer hat am Vormittag in der westfinnischen Kleinstadt Kauhajoki in seiner Berufsschule mindestens zehn Schüler erschossen. Mindestens zwei Menschen wurden verletzt.

Nach Angaben des Rektors fand in einer Klasse mit etwa 20 Schülern zum Zeitpunkt der Tat eine Prüfung statt. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt seien 150 der 200 Schüler in der Schule gewesen.

Er versuchte sich nach seinem Amoklauf selbst umzubringen und schoss sich in den Kopf. Zunächst überlebte er schwer verletzt, bis er am späten Nachmittag seinen Verletzungen erlag.

Über den Ablauf der Tat gibt es unterschiedliche Informationen. ARD-Korrespondent Thomas Balzer berichtet, nach Angaben von Augenzeugen sei der Mann mit einer Skimaske und einer Tasche in die Schule gegangen und habe dann das Feuer eröffnet. Zudem sei in einem Raum ein Feuer ausgebrochen.

Polizei hielt den Täter noch gestern für harmlos

Innenministerin Anne Holmlund räumte ein, dass die Polizei noch gestern mit dem Mann gesprochen habe. Der Beamte habe keinen Grund gesehen, ihm Waffenschein oder Pistole abzunehmen.

Holmlund bestätigte, dass sich der Schütze vor seiner Tat auf dem Internet-Videoportal YouTube bei Schießübungen mit seiner Pistole präsentiert hatte. Die Polizei habe diese Videos in der vergangenen Woche gesehen.

Internetnutzer hatten den Mann bereits vor Holmlunds Stellungnahme als den Amokläufer identifiziert. Mittlerweile hat YouTube die Homepage des Mannes gesperrt.

Anderer Amokschütze als Vorbild?

Wie ARD-Korrespondent Balzer weiter berichtete, könnte der Schütze ein Nachahmungstäter sein: Erst im vergangenen November hatte ein 18-jähriger Finne in einer Schule der Ortschaft Tuusula sechs Schüler, zwei Mitarbeiter und am Ende sich selbst erschossen. Der heutige Täter sei auffällig ähnlich vorgegangen.

Die finnische Regierung traf zu einer Sondersitzung zusammen. Nach dem ersten Amoklauf im November 2007 hatte es in der Öffentlichkeit massive Forderungen nach schärferen Waffengesetzen gegeben.

Common Knowledge and progress of human thinking

Isn’t it a bit strange, when we take a look at the second and third rank enumerating the intelligence of creatures from top to the bottom that right after us, as humans, monkeys and dolphins follow?

Is it really so obvious and clear that we are that much more intelligent than just those animals, when we have this statistic in our mind?

Sure we have a good working language, computers, art and lots of progress in science overall
But is this really a way to measure our intelligence?

In my opinion, intelligence is, in a big part, exploring and understanding life, so, philosophy.
And this is now really scary for us, listing ourselves as the most intelligent creatures on earth or even in the universe, when we know that even the old Greek had already discussed the same philosophy issues and topics, we try to understand today.

We didn’t make any progress in our philosophical thinking! The broad mass of people is probably on a level, far behind the Greek…

The great philosophers were just single individuals somewhere in between this whole undefined mass of people. No group developed philosophical topics or answers.
Descartes, Nietzsche, Kant, Sartre etc. were in a way just solitary exceptions. Today 90% of all of us still prefer thinking about the TV-Program of tomorrow or what they’re going to order in a MacDonald’s Restaurant…

Our knowledge developed maybe in some ways, but not our intelligence. This argument of ‘knowledge’ is very interesting to take a look at, because we already know loads of things without really having to learn them. It seems that we ware just using and taking our knowledge out of a big pot, which grew every century more and more and which is open for every human.

It’s even proved that people had 20% better results in solving crossword puzzles, which had been solved by a other people years and decades before, than, compared with that, new crosswords which no one has solved before. So we can set the question whether it might be possible that we ‘transmit’ our knowledge in some way.
And what’s about our natural reflexes or instincts? Our taste and emotions?

It seems that there’s a kind of network between every human and we just have to use the information out of this main pot. That would also explain the huge progress in science, look at the LHC in Switzerland, or just at your mobile which is able to play MP3s, make photos or videos and even is able to phone and write text messages…

We’re able to proceed, because we already have the basement of knowledge for nearly every scientific examination in this big common pot.

So the big question is, how can we leave this one dimensional level of thinking progress and develop a technique to illumine our life in a philosophical way, so, how can we proceed in our intelligence?

Art is, in the first line, a way to express something. Loads of different kinds of Art exist, and the most aren’t known as such by the broad mass of people in our society. A simple scream is also Art. Expressing your anger and your aggressions using your voice instead of taking colours and pencils or instruments and music, can also be seen as just an expression of your state of mind, so, simply Art. People have always been trying to show their situation, even the Neanderthals with their cave-paintings. Every piece of Art has a topic, even modern Art. The artists state of mind, idea, issue, or just in overall something abstract, gets transferred to a concrete thing like a canvas, a melody or a piece of material, which is now open for more people than just for the artist himself. Adding the topic to the piece of art, the audiences or publics allocations are directed into the actual one of the artist. So furthermore, as in artist, you’re able to get a connection to the public. You’re able to express political arguments, without really mention them, which leads to the advantage that people now have to really start thinking about this issue and maybe realize important details. Writing poems and literature is also Art. Using metaphors and stylistic devices to set emphasizes on the main arguments, the writer is able to set a mental boarder, which the reader has to pass to get the sense of the text. This again, leads to the thinking process of the reader. The Greece used the theatre to educate people. Describing scenes of life and religion made the people understand those things, because they weren’t able to read. On the other hand, Art is also able to manipulate people in a negative way. Calming down people with background music in a shopping-mall, to buy more products is the wrong way to use music as art. Furthermore, angry and big statues of political rulers made the people quiet and shy to protest. Hitler and his assistants used cheerful and supporting songs sang by the young boys of the ‘HJ’ to make them believe in a good policy. Putting it into a nutshell, Art is important for the life of every individual, because every individual tries to count as such and wants to express his own sense of life.

Die Sprache, wahrlich nicht die einfachste Huerde fuer dieses Jahr. Es ist wirklich eine komplett neue Sprache, man kann eigentlich auch kaum etwas ableiten, auch wenn man alle anderen Sprachen der Welt studiert hätte. Aber, ich komme voran und das sogar recht zuegig, schneller als ich zumindest erwartet habe. Man muss vielleicht jedes Wort neulernen, aber, man hört sie ja hier 24/7, es gibt, ausser das Internet, ueberhaupt gar keine Möglichkeit sich nicht mit dem Finnischen zu konfrontieren und das hilft beim lernen ungemein! Meine Gastmutter hilft mir ein wenig mit der Grammatik und ich bringe mir selbst ein paar Sachen bei. In zwei Wochen fängt mein Finnisch-Kurs an, freu mich wirklich schon darauf, da ich bereits schon ein wenig sprechen kann. Es hat fuer Finnland aber denke ich hauptsächlich Vorteile, selbst fuer englische Lehnwörter, eigene finnische Wörter zu erfinden. Mein Lieblingsbeispiel: English: Nerd --> Finnish: Nörtti. Das sind Wurzeln fuer die Kultur! Wir in Deutschland machen den Fehler, dass wir uns keine Muehe machen und einfach die englischen Wörter verwenden, somit geht das Deutsche und die deutsche Sprache und Kultur immer mehr verloren. Die Finnen halten an ihrer eigenen Sprache, sei sie noch so ungewöhnlich, fest und bewahren sich so ein wichtiges Kulturattribut.
